After using my Pontoon and Bunk Board Boats for over a decade now, I thought they needed a makeover very badly. And a new carpet too, perhaps. So I looked on the internet for a good boat carpet site and I found Boatcarpetcentral.com which had an impressive assortment of carpets for me to pick from and a whole palette of colours too. I bought myself two new carpets from the website and they were delivered to me free and fast.
So I got down to installing the carpets last weekend and didn’t have any hassles there as well. All I did was follow the well articulated installation steps on the website and hey pronto, the carpets were installed. The site provides the boat carpet installation guide with which we can comfortably install the boat carpet.
For the pontoon boat I cut the carpet material to fit, with an inch to spare for the trim and folded the carpet lengthwise onto one side of the deck. Then I applied the glue in circles as mentioned by the guide and folded the carpet over the glued section of the deck. I did the same thing on the rest of the deck and rolled the newly glued carpet with a heavy pipe to remove any unintended wrinkles and air pockets. After the carpet dried for about half a day, it looked absolutely gorgeous, and I sealed off the uneven edges with quick-dry contact cement.
With the Bunk Board Boat I unbolted the bunk boards, ripped off the offending (and not to forget smelly) old carpet, sandpapered the surface and smoothened the broken bits of the old boards. I glued the boards to the carpet and turned them over to staple gun the loose edges on the underside. Where the staple gun was ineffective I overlapped any excess fabric and glued off the edges to the bottom side of the bunk boards. I did this for each and every bunk board till they were all suitably re-carpeted. Lastly I cut an X mark as said, in each bolt hole underside where the carpet had hidden the hole and bolted them back securely to the trailer. At this store, it is a great advantage that we can buy boat carpet and install it easily without any hassles.
I found the measurements given on the guide to be very useful and accurate. I’m really pleased with the results in both my boats.
